What does everything have to be on tour with?

A new bike, racing bike or e-bike alone is not the last word. If you want to start the bike season really ambitious, there are plenty of accessories and equipment to consider. What do I need for biking? What do I have to do with my bike and what can I do without on the way? Come on a journey through our bike world!

When motivation increases, the bike season really starts and the sun shines more and more strongly from the sky, we can no longer be held. Get on your bike, out at the door and into the best tours and trails in the Hochkönig region. But be careful if you are not well prepared or do not take all the necessary gadgets with you on tour; what to do in the event of a breakdown What safety equipment do I need and how should I transport the whole thing? All very good questions, how do you give an overview!

TOP styled and safe on head and foot

Anyone who gets on their bikes with their brains will choose the right bike helmet. Actually, the question of a helmet yes and no does not arise, but rather, “Which helmet is the right one for me?” It really depends on how and what you go on tour with. Road cyclists prefer lightweight helmets without a sun visor, because the seat position means that they look flatter over the handlebars. Mountain bikers and e-bikers need stable helmets with deep neck protectors. Systems like MIPS from Giro also reduce the risk of injury.

When it comes to bike shoes, the worlds separate even more and here the question of belief dominates: click-in or flat pedal? While tourers, racers, marathon riders and racing cyclists ALWAYS use click pedals, trail riders, enduro riders or freeriders rely almost exclusively on flat pedals with the right shoes. Shoes that “click” into the pedal need a stiff sole and a firm fit to ensure power transmission, while shoes for flat pedals have particularly soft rubber soles to build up proper grip on the pins of the pedals. Everything very confusing? Come along, we will be happy to advise you!

Everything important on your back or bike

There are countless packing lists in various magazines that ask you what you should have with you on tour. Basically everyone decides for themselves. We are not going to start with weather protection and changing clothes now, catering is useful if the tour is lengthy. A base of tools and repair material makes sense in any case, should you run out of air on tour or other problems arise on the bike. Trail riders and enduro pilots usually have a set of protectors for knees and / or elbows.

The question remains where and how to transport all of this on tour? There are bike backpacks like sand by the sea and here there are particularly great models, where everything has its place so that you can find it again. In the main compartment there is usually space for clothing and a hydration system, while food and tools in particular are stored in special storage compartments. There are also particularly clever bags and brackets for tools and small materials in order to mount them directly on the bike – we are happy to help you with this, should you not know exactly where and how the rabbit runs!

“Anyone who sets off on a bike tour really has a lot to consider. It is not just about the bike, the right clothing and equipment are of crucial importance. What do I put on, what do I put on, which shoes are the best? and where should I transport it all now? QUESTIONS about QUESTIONS – just drop by our Bike Point Maria Alm, we will be happy to advise you and will certainly find the best material for you and your mountain bikes, racing bikes or e-bikes!”
