Let’s go, get out of your hair, a wonderful day of skiing awaits you in the Hochkönig region. When the sun is shining early in the morning, you should be ready to enjoy the best slopes, the most comfortable huts and the coolest descents. But what does it all take to make a perfect day of skiing? STEP # 1: ski rental!
Okay, first of all, we need the best skis we can find. In the new Mountain Shop at Landal Resort the professionals are already waiting for us and equipping us with the best rental skis we can find. Which category can it be? ECONOMY, PREMIUM or SUPERIOR, after a short consultation it is clear, we are good skiers, a ski of the category SUPERIOR must be here. At least as important as the ski is the ski boot, should the day really be perfect. Find out bigger, try it on and you’ve found the best model. Now we have to adjust the binding to the sole length and the weight and nothing stops us from this beautiful, sunny day of skiing at Hochkönig!
STEP # 2: on the mountain!
Thanks to the new ski area connection between Natrun and Aberg, we start our royal tour right in the centre of Maria Alm. Up on the mountain not only a wonderful panorama awaits us, also the first descent on the new Sonnbergpiste is a hit. The sun is already shining from full tubes and the piste is perfect to relax for this day. Down from Natrun, into the gondola in the direction of Aberg and hardly have we made a mistake, we are at the top and enjoy the “ON TOP OF THE WORLD feeling”. Phew, the sun is now quite high and has a lot of power, really stupid that we don’t have any ski goggles with us, that can be something! HALT, STOP, don’t panic, the INTERSPORT Maria Alm service network wouldn’t be “very close to you” if a solution wasn’t waiting around the corner. We take the piste into the valley to Hintermoos and stand a few minutes later in front of the shop in Hintermoos.
STEP # 3: best material for us!
As soon as we have entered the shop in Hintermoos, an employee is already standing by to help us. Scott, Oakley, Smith and whatever their names are, the selection of ski goggles is large and it doesn’t take long until we have found a suitable model. When you buy a pair of ski goggles, you have to make sure that they fit perfectly to the ski helmet and that there is no “gap” between the helmet and the goggles. It fits perfectly and the casual skiing day can go on.
STEP # 4: ski service at the slopes!
Phew, maybe we exaggerated a little when selecting the SUPERIOR category of the ski, we should probably not have cheated when specifying the skill. As soon as this thought had been thought through, it had already happened, we lost control of our SUPERIOR skis in a bend and were lying in the snow. The slopes become more difficult and the Aberg shows us clearly what is important for a perfect carving turn. EVERYTHING IS NOT A PROBLEM. Daniel welcomes us at the entrance to his Ski Test & Service Center at the Aberg middle station and immediately recognizes what the problem is. The ski does not fit to our abilities and so we immediately found a more suitable model. What, and we can simply exchange it here and now on the piste? STEP # 5: Chill-out after skiing!
Now nothing stands in the way of a casual and unforgettable skiing day. With the perfect ski for our skills, strength and endurance, this day is even more fun and we enjoy the beautiful, wide and sporty slopes of the Aberg to the full. The shadows on the steep slopes of the sunlit Hochkönig are getting longer and we can clearly feel in our thighs that this is a full day of skiing. Now drag the skis to the car and stow all the equipment laboriously in the hotel? No trace: at the valley station of the Aberg cable car our ski depot is already waiting for us and we can rely on the fact that skis, poles and shoes are waiting dry for us the next day. We climb again into the gondola to the mountain station at Natrun and let ourselves fall happily and tired into a deck chair in front of TOMS hut. Ahhhhhh, what a day, now a good glass of beer and enjoy the last rays of sunshine of this day fully. With the service network of INTERSPORT Maria Alm this is an excellent success!
